Space Man 2D Shooter

Modifications made from Original Creation are as follows

1) New song added to level 3 (Revelations).

2) New backgrounds added to each level.

3) New names for each level replacing generic names lvl 1, 2 and 3.

4) Boss AI added with increased HP, speed, and new look.

5) Level 2 (The Hive) created from the ground up to be a tough fly through shooter level with multiple enemies and a maze designed level.

6) Player look has been changed from generic look provided. 

7) Main Menu Text Item added to explain game controls


Development

Level 1

- Level 1 places the player in a simple box area to familiarize the character with player controls and mechanics, while combating enemies. 

Level 2

- After becoming familiar with the controls I created a more challenging level that works as a spiral maze calling for the player to proceed with caution as enemies cannot be seen initially and looking for enemy projectiles becomes key for avoiding and destroying enemy ships. Level design is presented with close proximity walls to give the player the feeling of tight space and easy navigation of the level by following the close proximity wall layout. Enemies were placed in locatable positions so player can achieve victory by defeating a certain amount of enemies in the level and avoid having to back track to defeat missed enemies to defeat the level. 10 extra enemies were added to the level to further increase player level success playthrough incase an enemy or two were missed when traversing through the level. 

Level 3

- Level 3 introduces a boss fight between 3 boss enemies and the player. The level is separated into 4 distinct sections calling for the player to transition between each room to avoid the bosses and perform kiting techniques. 

All levels were designed uniquely by me with the focus on gradually increasing player skill level based off of experience and familiarity as player progresses through the game.
